I have a guilty confession to make. It’s not something about which I’m proud...
I have GAS (Guitar Aquisition Syndrome). In fact it’s worse than just GAS, I have a love of hording musical kit that rivals that of Imelda Marcos for shoes. The only difference between myself and this ‘role model’ of Mrs Marcos (apart from the fact that I have never been snubbed by the Beatles) is that of availability of funds.
The links to the right provide a damning insight into how bad my GAS is! They also provide too much insight into how picky I am about my strings, pickups and everything else that I use. I suspect I have some form of OCD as well as GAS.
I don’t want any sympathy for my condition. I have come to accept it for what it is and to only indulge it when I can actually afford to. If others can be spared the financial trauma of GAS by using this area of the site as a warning, then I feel that I have at least achieved something in my self-indulgent expenditure
If you are a phD student researching obsessive purchasing habits among male guitarists and you have access to research funds, please contact me so that I can be your case study.
